Thanks for all the replies regarding an Italian in Greenwich Village, after looking on menupages I had decided on 50 Carmines - today I have just gone to add it to my page and it states that it is closed - is this correct? (Its just my luck!!)Thanks
50 Carmines - is it closed?
Just phoned for you and yes, they%26#39;re closed. ';Twins are coming into the family and we decided running 2 businesses was too much.'; Their other restaurant is Paola%26#39;s on the upper east side.
50 Carmines - is it closed?
oh no, that is SO sad...it was my favorite (mostly unsung) Italian restaurant in the city.... time to cry into my sangiovese. has anyone been to their other restaurant?
That is a bummer! It seemed to have the best reviews and (for our tastes) the nicest menu. Back to the drawing board, will take a closer look at the other suggested restaurants unless there are any other suggestions (think the ones suggested were Po, Lupa. Otto and Mulino - but none of the reviews on Menupages were outstanding which put me off a little). Thanks NYwizz for going to that trouble for me, you really are a great help.
Po is outstanding - it can be a bit difficult to get a reservation there though, so plan well in advance (the restaurant is quite small, but very charming...excellent food).
You should also check out citysearch ny-it has in depth user reviews, which are very helpful in making a choice, and they%26#39;re pretty up to date
Hi, thanks for the info. After hours of looking for all sorts of restaurants in Greenwich Village nothing really caught my eye (tried to get reservations at Buddakan but nothing until 10:45). So we are just going to have Tapas at Tintol early evening (like 6pm) catch the subway down to the village after and then get some diner food late on after a night on Bleecker Street (prob the Cheyenne on 9th). Thanks again (still bummed about 50 Carmine though - looked so good!)
