Tumi discount anywhere?

I am looking to pick up a couple of new Tumi (luggage) bags when in NYC this year. The euro/dollar rate means that I already save a bit buying it in the US but as ever I am keen to find the best deal.. Does anyone know where I can get a discount on this brand?

You can try Macy%26#39;s and Innovation Luggage and hope for a sale.

Tumis also pop up at TJMaxx and Filene%26#39;s Basement, both of which have impressive luggage departments I must say. Luggage sales don%26#39;t always happen at the same predictable times (the way clothing does), so it%26#39;s not easy to tell whether you will score some deals when you are here.

You can browse www.ebags.com for a general idea as to what will be available at the discount stores. I%26#39;ve always found better deals and selection online than in stores to be honest.

I%26#39;m not sure whether they carry Tumi, so you may need to email them to ask about it.

I lucked into a Tumi sample sale a couple of years ago, but all the luggage was a dark blue (not Navy, brighter). As far as I know there hasnt been one since, but you never know... you could get lucky. You can sign up for sample sale email alerts online. Dailycandy.com is one - I am forgetting the others.

There is a Tumi store at Woodbury Commons if you plan to go there.

And, the Madison Ave Tumi store is across the street from my office and they constantly have sales, but I would think Woodbury or Altmans (if they carry Tumi) would be better

Altmans definitely carries Briggs and Reilly, which is my other favorite suitcase in my luggage collection.

thanks all for your comments... Unfortunatly Altmans dont carry Tumi so its back to the drawing board.. Saks and Macys do stock the range but at one standard price.. I googled it but have found it hard going getting any discount anywhere.. I guess that Tumi pressures its agents to sell at one standard price and not to discount but hey its a free world (not) !!!

Tumi at Macy%26#39;s does go on Sale.

When they recenlty changed the carry-on restrictions, Macy%26#39;s had a huge luggage sale. Most of the brands were marked down 50%, Tumi was only 30% I beleive. But as I mentioned before, luggage sales seem to happen sporadically..and difficult to predict.

Excuse my ignorance, but can you buy on Ebay from Spain? I would check there. People at that sample sale I attended were buying 20-30 bags at a time. I%26#39;m sure they ended up on Ebay. It was a while ago, but if they%26#39;ve been more recent sample sales that I missed, you can probably find them there.

It probably doenst work at a department store, but at an Innovation Luggage type place, they may be willing to negotiate. In the past week, without even asking, I had 2 sales people offer me huge discounts on big ticket items for my upcoming kitchen renovation.

For a large supply of Jamon Iberico (I forgot the name of the acorn fed one), I would be happy to do the legwork for you!

I have had a good look on ebay , the Euro version , spanish , UK and US sites but there never is too much Tumi and never the two bags I want. Plus the dollar/euro rate currently is so good that a second hand UK ebay bag cost s about the same as a new one in the US... But I am greedy and looking for the ultimate deal...

PS I love that jamon , especially with Manchego (goats) cheese and a good glass ( or four ) of red wine sitting in the sun at our local tapas bar... Better than my previous job working all hours in the cold and wet UK....

I think you have the right idea when you say that Tumi prices are pretty controlled by the company. I bought 3 pieces for someone a couple of years ago and really shopped and watched the prices.

I finally got it at Bloomingdales on a clients Friends and Family discount(but that does you no good) At the time I found the Tumi store at Woodbury Common to have the best prices. Pretty much everything they have there though are irregulars. When you look at the pieces it is difficult to find the imperfections. Some had slight puckers in the fabric.

I bought 2 pieces of Briggs and Riley for myself on EBay last year and really love it. My large peice has been to Europe a few times and has held up really well.

Also Dakota is a luggage brand that is made by Tumi, That goes on sale often.

Sunshine....As you have already discovered Tumi mainline product (luggage %26amp; business cases) very rarely go on sale anywhere. Your best bet if your going to purchase more than 1 item is to go to Innovation luggage (they have several stores in NYC). They do not advertise the fact, but if you are purchasing more than $1,000 US (thats only 2 luggage items) you can get a 10%-15% discount just by asking the store manager .....This discount is offered on anything in the store and is at the managers discretion
