Grand Hyatt to BB Kings

Is this a doable/safe walk in mid February? On the map, this looks to be about a 7 block walk. I%26#39;m figuring the walk back will be around 11pm. Are cabs/subway a better alternative?

East/West blocks are a lot longer than north/south blocks in the city. The walk, although only 6 blocks is about 3/4 of a mile. Lots of New Yorkers are accustomed to walking this far. Are you?

As far as taking the subway, you could do it but by the time you got down to the level where the #7 train is, waited for it, rode it, and found your way out of the subway in Grand Central, it would take at least 10 or 15 minutes. In that time, you could walk it and it would be a lot nicer than the #7 train. Of course, it%26#39;s cold in February in New York so dress warmly if you plan on walking (hats, gloves, scarves).

Taxis are everywhere and the ride would take 3 or 4 minutes and not cost very much. I%26#39;d vote for a taxi or the walk.

It is safe to walk. Walk is a little more than 1/2 mile. Taxi, with tip would be about $5. If you decide to use the train take the Shuttle (S train) from Times Square to Grand Central

It depends on the weather. When we have stayed at the Grand Hyatt we usually walk to Times Square, but wouldn%26#39;t if it were raining or super cold. So if it is nice, it%26#39;s a nice walk. If cold I think a cab is fairly inexpensive. Figure $2 a person for subway... a cab ride won%26#39;t be more than $5 I would bet.

and as one of the few bus fans on this board, I%26#39;ll add if you don%26#39;t want to walk and can%26#39;t find a taxi, the crosstown bus on 42 st. is a good option. It stops right across the street from the hotel if you%26#39;re coming back from BB King%26#39;s.

Thanks to all for the advice. Walking is never a problem with us. Based on the comments, we%26#39;ll probably walk to BB Kings and take a cab back. Then again, if we spend the day in the Times Square area, we%26#39;re already there.
