Local taxes

I am a little confused about the local taxes I have to add to the cost of the hotel room in New York, since no one seems to state it clearly. Is it a fixed percentage? And if it is not, is there a maximum that can%26#39;t be exceeded?

Local taxes

Tax is 13.375% + $3.50 per room per night. There is no maximum. Some examples:

Rent tax Occup. Tax Total

$100.00 $13.38 $3.50 $116.88

$150.00 $20.06 $3.50 $173.56

$200.00 $26.75 $3.50 $230.25

$250.00 $33.44 $3.50 $286.94

$300.00 $40.13 $3.50 $343.63

$350.00 $46.81 $3.50 $400.31

Local taxes

I think its 13.625% (13.375%) tax, plus a $3.50 a night per room New York City Occupancy Tax.

It gets confusing for me too.

Our sales tax in New York City is 8.375% (or something close to that). There is an additional 5% tax for hotel rooms and then the $3.50 flat rate tax on every room / every night.

Does this help?

Thanks for your help Now it%26#39;s clear.
