Upper east side hotel or other suggestion?

Planning one night with husband and two teens-- looking into Upper East side since we want to have dinner at either Candle 79 or Candle Cafe restaurant and also visit Whitney Museum. Any accomodation suggestions that aren%26#39;t too costly but still nice? Thanks for the help!

Try the Affinia Gardens at 215 E. 64th St. This is a lovely, all suite hotel in a quiet residential area. Go to affinia.com. Also check rates for this hotel at expedia.com. You can frequently get a good rate here when you pay in full, in advance.

Travelzoo (travelzoo.com) is now offering a rate of $139 at The Franklin Hotel at 164 E. 87th Street between 3rd and Lexington. This rate is available through the end of March but must be booked by January 26. There is an afternoon wine and cheese reception weekdays, and a continental breakfast is included. Tripadvisor reviews indicate that the rooms are small, but at this rate, you could book 2 rooms and it will still be a great deal for NYC.

The Surrey Hotel (part of Affinia.com) is the only somewhat affordable decent hotel in the area. They have some non refundable rates that are very affordable. It%26#39;s at 77th b/w Fifth %26amp; Madison. The Affinia Gardens mentioned above is part of the same group and also nice.

I think the Franklin is pretty awful. There%26#39;s a b %26amp; b on 93 st. b/w Fifth %26amp; Madison at the website staythenight.com but not sure about a 1 night stay there and it won%26#39;t be as nice as either of the Affinias.
