Long Term Parking at Newark Airport

Can someone recommend safe and efficeint long term parking at Newark Airport. I have a flight leving Newark next week and I need somewhere to park with a 4 year old child in tow. Safety of the car and my person is #1 priority so I want a safe shuttle and driver along with a safe lot. Immedaiet or fast trasnport to terminals would be great too.

Any places to stay away from would also be appreciated!

Long Term Parking at Newark Airport

Newark airport is surrounded by many private, long term lots.

I have used Corporate Air Parking many times for as long as at least 12 days, their phone is 908-354-8855. I would call for directions -- while NOT off the beaten track they are not directly on a major road. I%26#39;ve been very happy with them. You pull in and they take you to the airport in a van. I%26#39;ve never had to wait more than 5-10 min for a van. When you return, after you get your luggage you give them a call and they come get you in the van (they will tell you where to wait). They give an AAA discount and they have both indoor and outdoor parking (outdoor is cheaper).

I%26#39;ve also used Vista park at (973) 465-9400. They work the same way and I%26#39;ve had no problem with them. I think they too give an AAA discount.

For all services that use vans, the airport limits where they can pick you up, generally you have to go out of the terminal at a certain gate. They will explain all this.

Checkout http://www.longtermparking.com/newjer.htm for other sites and coupons. Note that the airport is actually partly in Newark and partly in Elizabeth, so some lots are in Newark and some in Elizabeth. Elizabeth does not charge tax, Newark does (I may have that reversed) so the adds can be misleading -- when you call, get the price including taxes.

I forgot to mention that I do this with kids. Our kids are now 11 and 9 and we fly out of EWR every year to visit family, since they were in utero. I%26#39;ve never had a problem with the safety of the drivers. They will deal with the luggage while you get the car seat in the van, etc.

Also, for what its worth, we%26#39;ve always found it best to get the airport 2 hours ahead so we have time to not only get through the lines but also get food, bribes, etc. Our sanity improved greatly when we started getting to the airport earlier. Your kid will also find the moving sidewalks compelling and this will also give him/her time to on them with you 5 or 6 times.

if you park at one of the lots serviced by the monorail aka Airtrain you won%26#39;t need a driver

check the EWR website for info about rates, location etc.

The monorail lots are great, but they always seem to be full when I want to use them!

I believe that with the lots serviced by the monorail you get the privilege of lugging your luggage around while you try to watch your kid(s). You%26#39;ll be much better off with one of the private lots

Depends on how helpful the private lot driver feels like being. They are not under obligation to help you with your luggage. I wouldn%26#39;t count on it unless you offer to pay them for his/her help BEFOREHAND so they know they%26#39;ll be compensated.

Believe me, you park your car, open the trunk, stand their with your kids. You may or may not choose to take your bags out of the car (I find it easier). The van pulls up, put your kids in the car and the driver puts your luggage in the van. When you get to the airport, you get out and the driver gets your bags out and puts them at the curb. You give him a tip (or not, if you don%26#39;t want to).

On the other end, when you come back, the driver picks you up at the airport, takes you to the lot where your car has been brought forward for you. The driver takes your bags out of the van. At that point, he may or may not help you get them back in your car, but if you just say to him to please put them in your car (which is right there) he%26#39;ll do it.

I%26#39;ve done this a dozen times.

I stopped using the airport%26#39;s own long term lots a long time ago (having used them at Newark %26amp; Phila) because: (1) you have to drag those damn bags while your kids are wreaking havoc, (2) you park way out in a huge lot and feel totally isolated and vulnerable (esp at night) -- whether you really are vulnerable I doubt, but I always felt that way, and I%26#39;m a 6';1%26#39; man), and (3) when the bus comes (or monorail, now, but I have no experience with that) you may not get a seat.

Your experience has been better than mine when it comes to ';service';. But maybe they see that you will tip well. Who knows.

Whatever they decide, plan on having a couple of dollars handy.

I did forget to mention that when you get there, you first have to register, of course, then you go out and wait for the van

Thanks for the info. I%26#39;ll go with either Corporate or Vista depending on what kind of deals I find. The long term lots where never an option for me. With a small child and luggage, parking and having to take my child and luggage to a monorail stop isn%26#39;t an option AND I can%26#39;t make a reservation at the long term lot.

Thanks again!
