Overnight stay outside newyork

We arrive in Newyork about 3pm, NY time, in June. We intend to drive to Niagara the next day, but wanted a suggested location a couple of hours from New York enroute to Niagra, to stay overnight to break up the trip. Can anybody suggest a hotel, or even a town and I can look from there????

We are travelling with a 9 and 11year old.

Look for hotels in either Binghampton, NY or Syracuse, NY. There are lots of motels along the way.

If you%26#39;re looking for a nice place, the only real destination enroute is the Turning Stone Casino/Hotel in Verona, NY (just outside Syracuse).

According to AAA, the fastest route to Niagra Falls from Newark Airport takes you west to Scranton PA, then north to Syracuse NY; and then west to Niagra. (If you were traveling in winter I would say ';do not do even think of trying this';; at least, in June , you won%26#39;t have to contend with snow.) In theory, it is a six and a half hour drive to Niagra Falls, NY. If you are heading to the Canadian side, you should allow more time for immigration, etc., in addition to driving.

Since you cannot be certain whether your flight will arrive on time, since you cannot know how long the process of renting the car, etc., will take, and since you will be traveling out of the NYC area at the rush hour, you might want to look at some of the better chain hotels/motels on the road (I-81) just north of Scranton. The drive from there will not be exciting, but the most stressful parts will be over.
