i am going to NYC and staying there for a week from Feb 12-23. And I was just informed that the 19th is PREDSIDENT DAY!

I%26#39;m wondering how my trip might be affected, and whether there are any special events inNYC on that day???

There will be some sales in the department stores and the banks and government agencies will be closed but otherwise it will not effect you/

It%26#39;s actually nothing special at all, other than another excuse to move merchandise out of the stores and into the hands of consumers. What was originally two different holidays to commemorate George Washington an Abraham Lincoln%26#39;s respective birthdays and more importantly their achievements, in the 1980%26#39;s advertisers and retail merchants convinced government officials to change to name to Presidents Day so they could make a retail selling event out of it.

But it is a welcome holiday from work for some of us in the dead of winter.
