Serendipity - worth it?

Is it worth going to Serendipity? I have read varied reviews, has anyone been recently? Also do you need ot make a reservation?

Thanks

K

Serendipity - worth it?

Yes you must book. I am going in 4 weeks so will be glad to post a review if it%26#39;s not too late for you.

Serendipity - worth it?

It%26#39;s worth going at least once. My kids and I have never made reservations and haven%26#39;t had to wait more than a half-hour either time we%26#39;ve gone, but late morning or mid-afternoon might be better than flat-out lunchtime. The selling point seems to be the frozen hot chocolate, which are OK but too much, but for us, it%26#39;s the mountainous sundaes, which are also too much but happily so..

Many visitors who post here say they enjoy going because they liked the 2001 movie of the same name, starring John Cusack.

Forgot to mention: they take only rezzies for meals, not just if you%26#39;re there for desserts.

If you%26#39;re going just for the Frozen Hot Chocolate, you need to put your name down (there are allegedly strategies. Some report that the host will always tell you a very long wait, but if you come back earlier, you might get seated.) If you%26#39;re going to eat a meal, you can either book or take your chances and just show up.

During your wait, you might consider taking a round trip on the nearby Roosevelt Island Tram. Great views! Costs $2.00 per person.

Thanks for the information everyone, I think we may just go for icecream sundaes., so will chance it and just turn up. It was because of the film I thought we would go, I did not realise it was a real place until I started researching this trip. It is also near where we will be staying.

I am going in 2 weeks time so will let everyone know how I got on when I get back. I love ice cream, even if it is snowing I will eat it (-:

I saw the tram on the map and tried to find out about it, all I managed was the cost. Is it worth going on?
