Help me not run up a huge phonebill!

We spent nearly 拢100 phoning home last time but I%26#39;ve heard people mention a phonecard and it sounds good value.

Any advice on where we can get it from, how much it costs and how easy it is to use please!

You can obtain phone cards at almost any newstand, corner newstand, train station, bus station, corner deli, etc.. They%26#39;ll save you a huge amount of money. You can call the UK for next to nothing. Generally the best values are if you find one that doesn%26#39;t cost much more for using a toll-free number and stay at a hotel that provides free toll-free calls. There are a number of variations but it will still be a significant (very significant) savings over hotel international long distance.

Ange - It is well worth buying a phone card. We bought a $10 phone card from one of the newstands when we were there last January. We both used it every day for 4 days to phone home and at the end of the trip here was still over $8 credit left on the card. we ended up giving it away to the cab driver who took us back to the airport.

They are really easy to use, you just call the number on the back of the card, enter the number on your card and then dial your telephone number. Well worth it as it will save you more money to spend in NYC !!!

Go to any corner shop.

Ask for a phone card to phone the UK and you should get an appropriate card.

Ask the reception at your hotel if they charge a connection fee if you use the card from your phone.

If they do, then use a phone from the lobby etc instead.

Hey - One option is to go to pingo.com. I use it all the time. You can call their toll-free number from any phone and type in a code. You pre-pay for your time with your credit card online and they keep track of your tab for you. I call all over the world with it.

Thanks folks!
